Meet your teacher....
My name is Lisa Kastengren and I will be your algebra teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. This will be my 23nd year of teaching. I have taught all 23 years in the eighth grade at Fox River Middle School teaching math and algebra, and previously social studies. I have also been involved in several extra curricular activities, coaching middle school cross country and basketball, elementary/middle school running club, and high school track and field. I also organize and chaperone a trip to Washington D.C. for the 7th and 8th grade students every other year.
Prior to teaching at Fox River I was a substitute teacher in the Chippewa Falls and Eau Claire school districts. I am also a certified nursing assistant and spent 12 years working at St. Coletta Home for the Developmentally Disabled in Jefferson, Wisconsin.
Education
I received my high school diploma from Lakeside Lutheran High School in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, my Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary and Middle Education/Math from the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire and my Master's of Education degree from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse. I have also taken various education courses from St. Thomas University, the University of Parkside, Viterbo University and Silver Lake College.
Other Information
My husband John and I have been married for almost ten years. We have a 7 year old son named Hunter. I also have a stepdaughter who is a dentist at Midwest Dentistry in Twin Lakes, a step son-in-law who is in orthodontist at Lenz Orthodontics, and a stepson who graduated from Blackhawk Technical College with a culinary arts degree and is the head chef at Docs on the Fox. In my free time I enjoy participating in almost every sporting event and watching the Packers, Badgers, Brewers and Bucks. I also enjoy scrapbooking and traveling. I come from an extremely large extended family and I love spending time with them whenever I can.
